It’s a kids ministry Revolution baby!

The golden rule for recruiting is that people are way more likely to respond to personal invitation rather then desperate pleas from the front. But this time round I felt it would be useful – not the desperate plea bit, but the from the front bit.

We’ve got a short notice in the video notices.  The point of it is just to let people know what the oppertunities are, there are so many people looking to be involved and just don’t know who to talk to.  That together with the incredible super powers of my team members got us four people showing interest yesterday.  For a church our size that’s flippen fantastic on one Sunday!

My next challenge is to recruit some “older” people, I (being 29) am actually the oldest person in my team.  Any ideas anyone?

I was in the van with the 4 kids that I look after this week and it turned into the most insightful conversation about God.  These kids don’t have a church background.  They would have said that they believe in God but up until I met them a few months ago they had never been to church.  Someone asked a question about God, I can’t remember what it was, but my reply was “what do you think God is like?”

Here are some of the things that these kids think God is like…

• Well He’s a person, except that He can’t look like people cos He’s too big. He’s bigger then the whole world.  He’s bigger then the whole universe.
• I think that He is everywhere, like a cloud, or actually like the air
• He’s a King with a crown.

Incredible! They have asked me a few questions about God in the past and been to church a handful of times, but they have an insight into what God is like!  It seems that for kids, an understanding of what God is like comes naturally.

There is still so much I can’t wait for them to learn and I know they are hungry for it!

The kids I look after have really just started coming to church.  Their dad is still a little hesitant, but the kids are very keen.  Not only keen to go to church but also KidsRock.  Not only keen to GO to KidsRock but to bring as many of their friends (also new to this church thing) as they can with them.  So keen to do so in fact that they decided to fund raise to help get them there!

Yesterday they ran a Sausage Sizzle outside church and made $30 profit. 

It puts our church families to shame really.  While they are all very excited about KidsRock and keen to go it’s a mission to get their registrations in, let alone encouraging them to ask their friends.  I really pray that the passion that these new kids have will influence the long timers and cause a shift in our complacent culture that we have become so comfortable with.
